Our In-Office Procedures
Hysteroscopy
During a hysteroscopy, your provider inserts a thin, lighted camera through the cervix to directly view the inside of the uterus. This allows for a closer look at the uterine cavity to identify polyps, fibroids, scar tissue, or other abnormalities that may be contributing to symptoms like abnormal bleeding.
IUD Insertion
An intrauterine device (IUD) is one of the most effective, low-maintenance forms of long-term birth control available, and placement takes just a few minutes in the office. We offer several options to fit different needs and preferences:
Mirena®
A hormonal IUD that releases a small, steady amount of levonorgestrel to prevent pregnancy for up to 8 years. It works by thickening cervical mucus and thinning the uterine lining, and it’s over 99% effective. Additionally, fertility generally returns quickly once it’s removed when you’re ready to start your family.
Paragard®
A hormone-free IUD made of soft, flexible plastic and copper. Paragard® is over 99% effective and can remain in place for up to 10 years, requiring nothing more than a simple monthly self-check.
Nexplanon®
A small, flexible birth control implant placed just under the skin of the upper arm. Nexplanon® offers up to5 years of continuous, over 99% effective pregnancy prevention with no daily routine required.
Endometrial Biopsy
An endometrial biopsy procedure involves collecting a small tissue sample from the uterine lining (endometrium) to be examined under a microscope. It’s commonly used to evaluate abnormal bleeding or investigate other concerns about the health of the uterine lining.
Colposcopy
A colposcopy uses a specialized magnifying instrument to closely examine the cervix, often following an abnormal Pap test result. This closer view helps us identify areas that may need further evaluation or treatment.
LEEP (Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure)
LEEP uses a thin wire loop carrying a mild electrical current to remove abnormal cervical tissue, often identified during a colposcopy. It’s a quick, effective way to treat precancerous changes on the cervix before they have a chance to progress.
Endometrial Ablation (CERENE)
Endometrial ablation is a minimally invasive treatment for abnormal uterine bleeding. This in-office procedure uses cryoablation technology to gently freeze and, thus, destroy part of the uterine lining (endometrium), with minimal discomfort. The goal is to significantly reduce heavy bleeding and return women’s menstrual cycles to normal.
What Are In-Office Gynecologic Procedures?
In-office gynecologic procedures are diagnostic or treatment services that can be safely and comfortably performed during a regular office visit, without the need for a hospital stay or general anesthesia. These procedures allow your provider to investigate symptoms, monitor your reproductive health more closely, or provide long-acting birth control, often with little to no downtime afterward.
Because these services are performed in-office, they tend to be more convenient, less costly, and less disruptive to your daily life compared to a hospital-based procedure. Your provider will always explain the purpose of the procedure, what it involves, and what kind of results or next steps you can expect.

In-Office Gynecologic Procedures FAQs
Are in-office gynecologic procedures painful?
Most patients experience only mild discomfort, similar to menstrual cramping, during procedures like IUD insertion or endometrial biopsy. Your provider can discuss options to help manage any discomfort beforehand.
How long does IUD insertion take?
The insertion itself typically takes just a few minutes, though your full appointment, including consultation and preparation, may take longer.
Will I need someone to drive me home after a procedure?
Most in-office procedures don’t require sedation, so you can typically drive yourself home and resume normal activities shortly after. Your provider will let you know if your specific procedure calls for any precautions.
Why might I need a colposcopy?
A colposcopy is most often recommended after an abnormal Pap test result, allowing your provider to take a closer look at the cervix and determine whether further testing or treatment is needed.
How do I know which birth control option is right for me?
Your provider will talk through your health history, lifestyle, and preferences to help you choose between hormonal and non-hormonal options, including IUDs and implants.
